At a meeting of the Mars Society Steering Committee held at Stanford University March 12, it was decided that the Mars Society should implement a “reconnaissance in force” mission to Devon Island during the summer of 1999 to prepare for the deployment of the Society’s planned Mars Arctic Research Station (MARS) during the summer of 2000.
